Deep down many of us have a knowing that we are currently living extremely unnatural lifestyles and that how we are feeling as a collective is not normal. Being and feeling unwell has become increasingly common but rest assured it is not normal in the slightest. We are currently living through the era of time in which we are learning exactly what not to do as human beings and witnessing first hand the immense negative effects it has on health and wellbeing.
Dis-ease rates are at an all time high and the upward trend is not slowing down. With the increase in dis-ease has come a decrease in quality of life. I experienced this first hand, spending most of my life sick and tired until I truly had enough. I knew that how I was feeling wasn't right. I knew I didn't want to spend the rest of my life wondering what was going on with my body and slowly becoming worse off with time. I knew there had to be a way out. And I know I'm not alone in feeling like this.
Struggling with eczema on and off since infancy, bad acne, holding onto extra weight that wouldn't budge, chronic bloating no matter what I ate or drank, constantly sick, lacking energy, brain fog, fatigue, heavy and painful menstrual cycle, ovarian cysts, bad asthma and allergies, peptic ulcers and acid reflux, and more. Dis-ease doesn't end there though, it's any time the body is experiencing abnormal, adverse, negative symptoms. The goal is to get the body back into a state of ease vs. dis-ease.
Truth be told, I spent much of my life in and out of doctors offices where I never received any real help. I was told I simply have autoimmune disorders, a weak immune system, and that I would have to spend my life managing my illnesses with pharmaceuticals. Don't get me wrong, we are very grateful for the advances in modern day medicine and I am not demonizing it or telling anyone to stop seeing their doctor. I am saying that the dependency on “quick fixes” isn't fixing anything. I'm saying that out of my countless trips to doctors and hospitals that not one of them mentioned a thing about diet and lifestyle. To me that's a big problem because it's how we have been living that has gotten us to where we are, unhappy and unhealthy in every term of the word.
It's only through experiencing chronic dis-ease that I learned how to heal from it. I knew that what I was doing obviously wasn't working and that if I wanted to feel and be better that I had to take responsibility for myself. When I learned what my body truly needed, my life completely changed. I watched my symptoms melt away, decrease, alleviate and it was the best feeling ever. I felt and looked better than I ever have. Happier, energetic, confident, clear, connected, light.
I learned how to use lifestyle as medicine. I learned what was harming me and what unsupportive habits and behaviors needed to be changed. I learned what my body needed on a physiological level. I learned how to be healthy in a world that didn't want me to be, in a world with so much confusing and misleading information about health. I learned how to make deep changes that weren't just a phase.
I'm here to tell you that feeling better than ever is possible but it takes a lifestyle change, there is no quick fix or one solution. It takes delaying instant gratification, dedication, and inner work. This is one of the highest forms of self love.
We have gotten so far away from our natural way of being. As everything serves a divine purpose I do believe this is propelling us to make our way back to living well. I believe it's what we crave deep down, to reconnect with our ancestral roots where we will begin to reclaim our health and happiness.
Feeling and being well from the inside out lies within your daily habits, routines, rituals, behaviors, beliefs. Your lifestyle in its entirety either contributes to the ease or dis-ease of the body. It either relays messages of strength, vitality, balance, and regulation or imbalance, dysregulation, distress, disorder. Health isn't about perfectionism, it's about consistency, dedication, devotion to the self. It's about learning to live in alignment with your body and understanding what it needs in order to thrive, not just survive.
Health and wellness journeys are so personal but the one thing they have in common is the desire to feel and be better. I am dedicated to helping human beings become well-beings through guiding, supporting, and educating them through the path of learning and unlearning, releasing and implementing, and creating sustainable change through curating a lifestyle that works for them.
